Zoe's blanket

Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.

I knitted this blanket for my daughter Zoe.
I love bright colors and wanted to create a blanket for crawling and playing for my daughter.

What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
I used mainly cotton scrap yarns. Most of them were Lion Brand's cotton ease, which I accumulated over the years. I used US 4 circular needles.

Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors? I used Kat Coyle baby book templates for the outer pictures and baby blanket Barn Dance from Family Circle Easy Knitting, Issue Winter 2001 for the layout. First I knitted all picture squares. Then I knitted all bottom squares together. Then I started the middle piece. After that I knitted the top squares to the middle piece. After that I connected the side pieces. I picked up stitches on the sides and used the mattress stitch to connect the sides and the middle piece. I sewed on the back a red Ikea baby blanket to hide all the thread ends. I love bright colors. I think they are very stimulating for a child. The pictures keep the kids interested when they are doing belly time.

Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?
I did not have any problems. It took a while since this was for my second daughter and I didn't have much time to knit. But I knitted the little squares wherever I went and had wait time. Overall it took about 5 months.

Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?

I totally love this blanket. I was surprised when I received positive feedback from Kat Coyle for my baby blanket, which I had posted on my ravelry profile. Here is a link to my ravelry profile: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/andreacraig/bite-this-book

My two cents
by: Robin Ann

Andrea is BY FAR the BEST knitter I have ever known. She has made me a blanket and a sweater dress for my daughter and we constantly get questions about where we bought them. Her creations are easily worthy of selling. She is an amazing artist.

by: Rhonda

Andrea's creations are truly unique and one-of-a-kind, as well as beautiful. This blanket is gorgeous. She knitted a gift for my granddaughter when she was 2 years old and it will be a keepsake forever!

So colorful!!!
by: Nancy

Andrea did a great job on this blanket as she does on all her knitting. I have seen this blanket and not only is it colorful but it is so well made. She always takes her time and puts pride in all she does. She has done many things for both of her girls and others. I receive from her a knitted laptop case and it is just beautiful and better quality then you could ever purchase from a store.
