Varigated Color Block Blanket
by Deanna Dement Myers
Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.
-- This was a blanket for a funky friend. I like bright colors that can go from baby to grownup, and I use washable yarn so parents don't feel the blanket is too "precious" to use.
What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
-- I used Vanna's Choice Yarn from AC Moore (on sale!). It is washable, soft and affordable. I needed 2 skeins of 5 colors.
-- I used #11 circulars, knitted flat (it's easier to hold the weight of all that yarn on circulars!)
Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?
-- This is a pretty easy block pattern, knitted all in one piece. I held 2 yarns together of two different colors, changing out the colors every other row. This created great color combinations.
Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?
-- My trick is to use markers every time the stitch changed. This reduces the errors. You do have to keep count of the rows of each block. I knit it in about 24 hours, spread over 3 weeks of tv watching!
Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?
