Ultra-Soft Pixie Hat
by Jen
This is a little bonnet-style fairy hat, with a chin strap anchored by a crocheted flower at the side. After my grandmother passed away I inherited a lot of yarn and needles from her collection. She had lost all her hair from cancer treatment and bought several super soft yarns to make herself some warm hats. The light blue yarn I used is mohair, and the purple one is some sort of fluffy blend. I designed this pattern for my daughter, who has pixie qualities. I love pointy hats and wanted to make an exaggerated version of one. There was some degree of trial and error to achieve the size and shape that I was looking for, but it's really basically a sort of triangle that gets stitched together in the back. I knit it over the course of 2 days. Baby hats are the most fun because it's a small time and materials commitment that allows so much room for fun and creativity!
