Tiramisu for Baby Peled

Upclose shot of double crochet border
Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket. This is a crocheted baby blanket. It is made using single crochet for the middle portion; the outer border is made up of clusters of double crochet. This is a wonderful pattern if you are looking to learn crochet. It is also a quick crochet if you need a baby gift in a hurry. The end result is elegant and looks much more complicated than it really is :0)
What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn? I used Lion Brand Cotton-Ease in the colorway Almond for this blanket. I crocheted it using a size J hook from Lion Brand as well. I picked this yarn for its ease in washing (machine wash and dry), its softness, and its affordability.
Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors? This blanket is based on the online pattern by Alicia Paulson, Tiramisu. I chose Almond because I don't know if this blanket will be for my niece or nephew yet ;0) The baby will be born in a couple of weeks....I will be adding a gender appropriate color ribbon, which will be weaved through the eyelets of the border and tied in a bow at one corner.
Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit? This was a very straight forward pattern to follow. I had no trouble with it and it was my first larger crochet project. I crocheted this in about 2 1/2 weeks.
