Spotted Squares

by Ashley
(South Burlington, Vermont)

I came up for the idea for this quilt while going through my fabric scraps. I noticed that I had quite a lot of polka dotted fabrics and decided to create a quilt incorporating all polka dotted fabrics.

I created 8" square blocks, using the polka dotted fabric as the inner square surrounded by white, or as the outer fabric with a white center. I randomly put these squares together, trying to alternate the blocks a bit, but not in any specific pattern.

I machine quilted this one, doing a loose meandering on the top. The binding is a nice green color, which brings definition to the edge. For the back, I used one of the fabrics from the front - Heather Bailey's Mod Beads in Pink, as well as a bit of the white and two of the blocks from the front to tie the whole thing together. It measures 42" x 56".

I really love the end result! It has great color and makes me very happy just looking at it!
