Snail Baby Hat
by Valerie McClintick
Peek a Boo Snail Hat!
This is a baby hat that I knit up last year for my little fella. It is a handknit hat with a spiral pattern that leads up to the top of the crown....just like a little snail shell. I used US 8 bamboo needles, and bulky weight yarn because it knits up quickly. (I have three other heads to cover each Winter so bulky is usually my yarn of choice.) The pattern that I used is free online, called, "Etanapipa - Snail Hat Pattern" by Maaru It was originally a "Finish" pattern but has been translated into English!! This was super easy and quick even though it looks like it took longer. (I love those kinds of patterns!) I started the hat in the Summer and made it a big larger so that it would fit my little guy in the Winter. I didn't expect to finish it so quickly, so when I went to go try it on him, he looked like a little snail that was still in his shell! It made for a great photo for our scrapbooks though, and when Winter came it fit perfectly! Every year I knit each of my children a new winter hat. It's so much fun to use different patterns and new yarn!! This year we will have a fourth baby head to cover, so I'm really excited to enter this contest!! Blessings, Valerie
