Sleek Interchangeable Panel Mei Tai

This is the first Mei Tai I made. I took my time looking at various Mei Tai patterns (including the one on this site!) before coming up with a modified design that i really like.

I made this carrier using a very soft, smooth and sleek(almost satin-ish feeling) but very strong and thick fabric called 'Midnight'. Baby Adam can be very fussy when it comes to carriers so i wanted to make sure the fabric must be comfortable for him so as soon as i touched the fabric i knew it was destiny.

i made the straps wide and lightly padded for comfort. The headrest is also lightly padded and has a rounded shape. The interchangable panel of course is the key to how fashionable i'm feeling at the moment. In the picture the panel is the most yummy handbag fabric (you can tell i love handbags - the one i'm wearing in the picture is also handmade).

the most incredible thing was that my baby was able to stay in this carrier for hours! Normally with my other carriers within few minutes Adam would get restless and start kicking his way out! With this Mei Tai he was so happy- enjoying the view, playing with my scarf, smiling away to complete strangers! When he gets tired he simply rest his head and napped. i love how versatile this carrier is!

i only have one regret...that i should've made this sooner!!
