Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.
I knit this baby blanket for hopefully our own little one soon. We are not expecting yet but when I saw this I just couldn't help myself. The sheep were knit in fair isle and I changed the center pattern from a checkered stitch to the sead stitch. I'm happy with the results and I can't wait to have a baby to keep warm with it.
What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
I used Cascade 220, it's not washable but I don't mind, I like the feel of it. The needles that I used are from glasspens.com. I found them at Stitches West, they are wonderful to knit with and the husband and wife team that hand craft the needles are wonderful people.
Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?
The design is from Knit Baby Blankets from Gwen Steege. I picked this pattern well, because what knitter can pass up sheep? It was so cute that I had to knit it. I picked blue because it's my favorite color and it could be for a boy or a girl.
Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?
I took me only about a month, no problems although there was a few errors in the book that were easy to figure out. It did take along time to weave in all my ends too.
Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?
Knitting is a great hobby to pass the time but I also found out that I have met some amazing people and have made some life long friends that I would have never had if it wasn't for knitting. I am very grateful for the people that I know because of the craft I learned.
