SHEEP! Baby Hat

I made this sheep baby hat to teach myself how to do stranded colorwork since this was a technique that scared the beejeezus out of me! I gifted this hat to my very good friend, Phoebe, because she is one of the sweetest and kindest people I know. She is also a knitter herself and can appreciate the work that went into this cute hat.

I used U.S. size 6 circular needles. I used Paton Classic Wool that I hand-dyed with food coloring for the meadow that the sheep are grazing in and the sky. I had some leftover Valley Yarn Stockbridge in Light Grey for the sheep and a small amount of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes for the legs and face.

The pattern is called "Baby Sheep Hat" by Melissa Burt, which I found on Ravelry.

After watching a video on YouTube about the best ways to do stranded colorwork it was smooth sailing for me. I completed this hat within one day.

I love to knit for babies, period. The patterns are all so super cute. Because one is knitting something so small, the time goes by quicker and it's easier to try out a new technique on a small garment.
