Sea Flower Stripes

I like the idea of a strip quilt, but wanted a bit of a twist. I decided to piece the strips together and then cut them into 10" blocks. I alternated the direction of each block, creating a variation of a strip quilt.

I love Heather Ross's fabrics, especially the new Mendocino line in the oranges and pinks. These colors are so perfect for the fall also! I used several fabrics from that line and mixed in a few of the floral prints, stripes and dots from her Lightning Bugs line. I also added some Amy Butler polka dots in similar colors and some solid white.

This is my fourth quilt, and the second that I used free motion quilting on. The backing used sections of a few fabrics used on the top, with a section of the remaining strips. The binding is a nice pale pink Kelp Stripe.
