Using fabrics from the UK, Thailand, Pakistan and America, I machine appliqued my own robot design in the centre and then patchworked three borders around the edge. The quilt was for a friend's new son - George Osbert Marsh - and I wanted to use more boyish prints. I therefore included spots, grids and stars in various colours and stuck with my favourite rule of always using three tones - light, medium and a small amount of dark.

This was my fifth quilt having taught myself from books and I machine quilted in the ditch around the robot and borders. The quilt measured 87 x 132 cm (we're metric in the UK). I have since collected a lot more fabric from around the world and made many more quilts but this remains one of my favourites.
