Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.

It starts with one stitch. I increase one stitch per line in the YO lace stitch to approximately 36 inches on one side. (Garter stitch so it's reversable). Then decrease one stitch per line in the YO lace stitch until down to one stitch. The result is a perfectly reversable, 36 inch blanket with a lovely diagonal pattern.

What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?

I use washable Red Heart worsted 4 ply yarn-works very nicely with varigated washable yarn. Generally size 9 needles. Knits up quickly and soft & stretchy.

Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?

They were not traditional "baby" colors, but the colors of a spring garden, green, lavender, cream. I liked the idea of a lace border to give the blanket something special, without too much lace for baby's fingers/toes to get caught on. I experimented until I found a YO stitch to have the YO lace look the same all the way around.

Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?

No problems. Just the experimenting with the YO lace on a test swatch before committing to the actual baby blanket. Knitting in the evenings I generally take about 2 weeks. I was desperately meeting a deadline once & knit it in one whole day

Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?

The babies AND the parents love my blankets. Whole tribes of neices & nephews have been dragging them around as favorite "bankies" until well into their move from crib to big boy or girl beds!
