Radio Flyer

I purchased a small flannel baby blanket at a thrift store. The blanket was cream with deep red radio flyer wagons on it. I have fond memories of our little red radio flyer wagon and that blanket inspired this quilt.
I started choosing fabrics that had that "radio flyer" feeling. It started with the 1800's reproduction red/white striped ticking and ended with the graphic black and white Olivia dots.
The log cabin blocks were pieced improvisationally and are intentionally skewed to give the piece movement, a funky feel and sense of fun. The back of the quilt is a black and cream graphic flannel print and the little radio flyer blanket is pieced into the back.
I love the graphic nature of the quilt and the bold colors. The quilt was given to a good friend of mine. They're a young, fun, modern family with a great sense of style. The best part about this quilt is that they had a girl and named her Olivia without knowing that Olivia dots were in the quilt.
