My son is obsessed with pumpkins. I have no idea why this is, but he loves them. We love fall around here and any excuse to do some autumn themed crafting is a fine by me!
You could draw out a jack-o-lantern face and cut it out in black felt if you like as well. We opted to leave off a face because we wanted more of a generic fall shirt rather than a "Halloween" shirt. This way, he'll get more wear out of it - he can wear it after Halloween and through November.
Here is a pumpkin applique template for you to print out and trace onto your fabric.
Pumpkin Applique Instructions:
Trace, Cut Out, Iron

Trace your design onto fusible web, cut it out and then iron it onto your orange fabric. Peel off the paper backing of your fusible web.
Iron & Sew

Position the parts of your design (I used orange cotton and brown felt for the stem) and iron them onto your shirt. Machine stitch with a zigzag or handstitch with a blanket stitch around the edge of your design. This creates a nice secure attachment and will withstand machine washing.
Enjoy & Happy Autumn!

Fabric & Variations:
- Cottons, fleece & felt
- Embroider face details
- Cut out eye and mouth shapes and sew onto a black shirt
- Cut out felt mouth and eye shapes
- Sew onto the butt of baby pants for a crawling baby
