Piper's Blanket

by Kristin Goff
(San Diego, CA )

Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.

This is a wonderful easy pattern that can be changed just by different yarn. I changed an existing pattern so that the hood is not a separate piece that needs to be sewn on, it is all knitted in one piece and then the contrasting color yarn holds it all together. The blanket is knit and the edging is single crochet

What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?

I used TLC acrylic yarn for the blanket and a cute fuzzy yarn for the trim, knitted on size 9 circular needles. I don't usually knit in traditional baby colors but my friend wanted it in Pink and Brown. The fuzzy trim made it very girly

Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?

This pattern is a C/O of 5 stitches and increase using a yarn over until you get to the width you like or you get bored. then you start to decrease down to 5 stitches. the hood is the same increase from the 5 ending stitches. The Bind off gives the front flap of the hood a finished look. Then I did single crochet in my trim yard around to outside of the blanket.

Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?

This blanket took about a week to complete... very easy, but looks like it was much harder to do.
