Pale Blue Baby Quilt
by Hanne Matthiesen
Pale blue and white quilt
I’m not an experienced quilter though! This is my 3rd quilt ever. My main force is not my technical skills but my trust. I strongly believe in learning by doing; I simply start and go where it takes me. And so obviously passing on/ communicating ideas, inspiration and encouragement is the main point of my work! Anyway, back to facts: A small quilt (32.5 x 41 inches/85 x 107 centimetres) for a baby’s bed or pram – or for your favourite wicker chair! Materials: Small rectangles of recycled cotton and linen textiles (from shirts, tea towels, table cloths, bed cloths etc.) predominantly in pale blue and white shades – and a few red contrasting ”hot spots”. Technique: 80 patches (10 x 18 centimeters) are machine stitched. Quilted by hand. Finally embellished with a pair of crotched or laced patches
