Mommy's Love Quilt for Ava
This is my fist Baby Quilt. I have three boys that were well grown by this point and I was now having a daughter. I was filled with joy and excitement. I decided she had to have a handmade quilt when she came into the world. I wanted it to be cheerful and bright and also reflect how much I loved her before I even met her. I started out choosing fabrics with bright colors and different textures to awaken her senses. I cut 5 1/2" squares of Flannel and Chenille. Once I placed them together in a pattern that I liked, I used Warm and Natural 100% Cotton batting and a stripe Flannel for the back and binding. I machine quilted it in the ditch and vertically and horizally through the Chenille fabrics. I hand stitched hearts through several flannel blocks and machine quilted X's through the others. The Quilt measures 33 1/2" x 34". When it was finished I was so proud and couldn't wait to wrap her in it. Ava is now 16 months old and loves to snuggle up to it in her crib.
