Modern Dots and Monogram

I designed this quilt for our niece born this September. My sister-in-law planned a pink and chocolate brown polkadot-themed room for their first daughter. I wanted to create a quilt that she could use into her childhood.

After auditioning several shades of Kona cotton browns and pinks, I paired it down to 3 colors. The binding, backing and monogram is a Joel Dewberry circle print in pink. I diamond quilted the blanket with thick hot pink thread.

To each circle I added thin batting and double-sided fusing then machine appliqued them onto the quilt with a zigzag stitch. If I had it to do it over again, I would use only fusible interfacing, like I did with the letters that I added in the last step. They stayed much firmer after washing.

The size is about 42" x 55".
