Miss A in her favorite hat.
I knit this hat for my daughter when she was very young. As soon as I saw this hat pattern on Knitty.com, I knew I had to make it. It was quite early in my knitting career so it was a bit challenging for me. The wide brimmed hat seemed to take forever to cast on and the there were a few other surprises as I went along. Eventually, I finished the hat and it turned out great! She actually wore the hat (all her other hats were promptly pulled off) and we received tons of compliments on it. This sweet hat was well worth the effort.
The pattern called for Debbie Bliss Cashmerino, Aran weight and size six needles. As a beginning knitter, I decided to stick with the specified yarn. I went to my yarn store and agonized over the color decision. Finally I settled on the pale, dusty pink... Only to find out it was the same color used in the pattern! It really was a great combo - the soft yarn and nearly neural color allowed this to be an every day hat.
I loved knitting this hat and seeing my daughter in it.
