Mason-Dixon Mitered Baby Blanket

by Nicole Kaczorek
(Carmel, Indiana, USA)

Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.

What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?

I used Knit Picks Options Interchangeable Nickel set in Size 5

I used Tahki Yarns Cotton Classic in the following colors:
3454-Dark Pink, 3446-Pink, 3456-Raspberry, 3458-Darker Pink (Like 3454 but a bit darker), 3476-Light Orange (Peach), 3486-Bright Coral (Persimmon) 3009-Gray with Blue Tint, 3407-Red-Orange (Brick Red/Burnt Orange), 3609-Dark Green (Moss), 3722-Lt. Green (like 3701 but a tad lighter), 3723-Fluorescent Lime Green (Bright Lime), 3745-Muted Dark Green, 3800-Jeweled Bluish Green, 3803-Sky Blue (N. Carolina Blue)

Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?

I used the pattern from the first Mason-Dixon book but knit it baby size and girly. I started with a few non-gender specific patches but switched when my friend found out the baby's gender.

Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?

It took me about 3 months but I was fairly new knitter. It was fun to knit the patches but painful to sew them together. :)

Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?

I am due with a little girl end of March and I secretly hope my friend returns it to me. :)
