Margaret's Hearts

When I was pregnant with my second child, I had just made a quilt for my almost three year old son. I wanted to make one for baby #2 but didn't know the gender.

I designed this quilt to represent my love for my growing baby who turned out to be a beautiful girl.

Each square is paper-pieced from 100% cotton material and took about an hour to put together. I used a combination of machine and hand quilting. The backing is an old baby blanket that I bought at Goodwill. I like to reuse fabrics when I can. It's crib-sized. The time involved was roughly 14 hours. It seemed longer since I was chasing a toddler away from my sewing machine. :-)
