I never buy a store-bought hat. Why would I when I can knit? This winter I am especially enjoying knitting hats because I get to knit them for my little one. I wanted a hat that would keep my daughter warm and cover her ears, yet was cute and would match various outfits/coats.
I used my leftover stash of Vanna's Choice yarn and size 7 double pointed needles. I bought my supplies mainly at JoAnn's (yay for 40% off coupons!). I love to work with this yarn and I love the color choices even more!

. I love the versatility of the pattern and how simple it was to knit up! I get a lot of compliments on this hat and will definitely make it again in the larger size when my daughter outgrows the current one. Bonus: great stash buster!
This was a wonderfully easy pattern to knit. I didn't have any problems at all and the sizing was perfect for my little one! It only took me one evening to knit up and the hardest part was weaving in the ends from all the stripes!
My knitting tip would be to pass on your knowledge of knitting to the next generation! Lets keep the hand knits coming!
