Knit Baby Bonnet

by Beth
(Madison, Wisconsin, USA)

This is a very soft and cozy baby bonnet with i-cord ties.

The yarn is Shepherd Colour 4 Me and Rowan Kidsilk Haze on size 8 needles. The yarn was in my stash, but I originally purchased the Rowan yarn based on the pattern recommendation.

The pattern I started with was the Baby Bonnet pattern by Joelle Hoverson from LMKG. However, I modified the pattern to bring the bottom edge closer to the neck.

I had no problems knitting it, other than figuring out the new number of stitches to pick-up to make it a snug fit. The bonnet took less than a week to knit.

This is a great hat and looks so cute. I also love that you can customize it for either a boy or a girl depending on the fibers and colors you pick.

This is a really pretty hat on a lovely girl. I never thought to knit a pilot cap style hat, I really want to now!
