Kirsten's Quilt

This is the first quilt I made, for a friend who had twins this summer! I made another very similar quilt for Kirsten's sister Liliana. I thought that being twins, they'll love something with each of their own names! I love the colors in the fabric. It is very girly, yet not too baby-ish.

I mostly used Moda's Flirtations line, but also used some fabrics from Michael Miller's Baby Toile. The appliqued letters are in the "Curlz" font. I modified the pattern from one I found in Julie Popa's book "Young at Heart Quilts." She definitely has wonderful patterns!

The entire quilt was machine quilted. Freehand swirls around the border and along the polka-dotted border around "Kirsten". The rest is stiched in the ditch.

This quilt is rather large for a baby quilt, 58"x68", but I believe that it is something that they can use for years to come! It was pretty easy for my first quilt! The applique and freehand quilting were the hardest parts!
