Jewel Box

Quilt for Dezi
I was listening to Annie Smiths Quilting podcast, and she did an interview with a designer where they talked about a block she had designed called candy box. This is not that block, since I couldn't afford patterns at the time, but I liked the squares in squares idea. The flowered fabric in the center of half of the squares is vintage from my Grandma's stash. It has a slight waffley texture to it. The solid teal was being thrown out by Bumbershoot (the big music festival here in Seattle) and my friend who was volunteering there rescued it for me. I machine quilted it, with stitch in the ditch between the big squares and diamonds in the small squares. |
