Giraffe Mei Tai

by Joanna Jones
(Bethlehem, PA, USA)

I made this giraffe MT to wear for halloween to match a giraffe costume. I made the straps padded and the waist lightly padded. Padded leg rests and padded headrest. I made it from scratch using a similar body to the Taitasi, but the straps a bit different and the angle just slightly diferent. One problem I had was that I kept breaking needles as the material is quite thick. But it is a super snuggly carrier.

Is it supposed to be a thong for a giraffe?

strap length

Actually the shoulder straps are 3.5 inches wide with padding so I think they are standard width for a MT. I believe 3 to 4 inches is standard.

Cute but the straps look too thin

Very cute but I think the thin shoulder straps would be uncomfortable.
