Turtle and Frog Rag Quilt

Turtle and Frog Rag Quilt

I made a rag quilt for my new baby boy with frogs and turtles fabric. I wanted bright blues and greens. I also wanted to try a new pattern so I came up with this design. Rag quilts are super easy and cute on both sides! I love it.

So did you use 8 total different material patterns for the quilt you made? (4 different materials for squares and 4 different for rectangles?)

Fabric Quanities
by: Melonie

For each of the four fabrics for the squares I used 1/2 yard (double that for a rag quilt). For each of the four fabrics for the rectangles I used 1/3 yard (again double for rag quilt).

Quilt dimensions
by: Melonie

My quilt is actually 45" x 54". I wanted it to fit a crib and toddler bed. Each square of four pieces is 9" total, a 7" square, a 4" square and two 4"x7" rectangles. I can't remember now if this includes the 1/2" inseam or not. I figured out how much of each fabric I needed by doing some pretty complicated math, but I'd love to help you figure it out. Just leave me your email address and I'll delete your comment after I get it.

Yardage
by: Sheena

I am brand new at making quilts. I LOVE this! I plan on doing the same colors but only turtles. I've already graphed it out on paper and made it longer by 3. I counted yours to be 15x18, so mine will be 15x21. How in the world do I figure out how much I need of each of the 8 fabrics?! I figure to make each small square 2" (2.5" including the 1/4" give). I think this makes the quilt to be about 30"x42". Can you help please? I've googled and still can't figure it out.

About My Quilt
by: Melonie

Yes, this is the non-ragged side. I used 4 larger (frogs and turtles) print fabrics (mostly blue) for the squares and 4 (mostly green) fabrics for the rectangles. I used flannel as the batting in between the layers that were cotton fabrics and no batting in between the layers that were flannel. It is a nice weight for spring to fall use.

I love this quilt. I would love to make it for my new granddaughter using pink colors. Could you please tell me where I can find this pattern?

This is the non-rag side, just so you could see the pattern better. I used 4 fabrics for the rectangles and 4 fabrics for the squares (sm. and lg.).

Are you showing us the side without the rag edges? Also, how many different fabrics did you use? (how many blues? greens? etc...)
