Finished Blocking Blocking Edging Garter Stitch

Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.

Started this project for a baby girl using an Elizabeth Zimmerman pattern.

What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
Rowan Calmer from my LYS The Clever Ewe and Knitpicks Harmony size 8 circular needles. The softness of the yarn and rich color were inspirational and I wanted something washable. I had worked with this yarn before.

Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors? After knitting quite a bit, I realized this was going to be a little too plain from what I had envisioned. I wanted to dress it up some so I decided to add a lace edging. I chose the Godmother Edging as described in Mason-Dixon Knitting.

Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit? This got off to a slow start as I cast on for a So. Carribean Cruise. Needless to say, not much progress was made, but this little blanket did see the light of day in 5 different tropical islands outside the US. After that it went fairly quickly (for garter stitch) and the edging knitted up very fast.

Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general? Just waiting patiently (it's so hard) to give it to a special someone.
