cornering nature with a fairy named Tangle
by Chris Willow-Schomaker
on the table
This is one of our many corners in our house that is a little bit nature, a little bit story, and all fun. Though hard to see all the detail in the wide scape of the picture our nature table was born about 4 or 5 years ago when my son was just a baby and full of lovely nature table animals and well, nature! Our table has evolved into a corner as the my boys continue to leave treasures from nature walks on the shelves that have seasonal fabrics and pictures. Most of the wooden animals are handmade or German made and were gifts given to my boys by our resident solstice fairy named Tangle Goblinwand that leaves them presents at each seasonal change- the equinox and solstice. There is now a small mythical story shelf developing with gnomes, dragons and magic and I recycled a toy bench to have fun spot to squat and read some stories or nature books- it has been a wonderful way to honor nature and stories! I enjoy walking by and noticing small changes, like who the Tomten has invited to tea or which animal has braved a journey down to the snakes in the lower level!
