circus dots

birdy's circus dot quilt
The quilt is backed by soft pale green flannel. It is 5' by 6'. The baby's nursery theme was vintage circus and I had this wonderful cotton retro circus print in pink & red. Not wanting to go the traditional girlie route I added a fun primary polka dot print along with the same color theme in stars. To round it out I used a pale green swiss dot that reflected the flannel backing. Never to be one who can measure well, I went the wonky route and made it all patchy-like. I went with the flow with no real plan in mind. The sewing machine was my friend and all the stitching was machine sewn. The quilt is padded with two layers of batting. I wanted her to be able to use it as a floor mat as well so I added a fun assortment of polka-dot ribbon tags randomly along the edges. I was so pleased with the end result I had a hard time giving it up but it was too small for my bed.
