Butterfly Blanket

by Yvonne Hadam
(South Windham, CT)

Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.

This blanket it made up of 25 squares, with a 5x5 placement. The raspberry squares have butterflies in them, the cream colored ones are empty and the brown ones spell out the initials SDB

What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
I used Caron Simply Soft yarn and size 6 circular needles. I bought the yarn off of knitting-warehouse.com and chose it because I knew it to be soft.

Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?
I made a similar blanket a few months ago for a charity fundraiser and my friend loved it and asked for one in these colors for her friend's baby shower.

Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?
I didn't have any problems when knitting it. I believe it took about a month and a half to finish it up (only because I like to have multiple projects going at once!)

Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?
My friend has decided that she absolutely loves these blankets and has ideas for all friends/family who become pregnant. My knitting skill has increased since I've started making these simple blankets but she keeps coming back to this type design!
