Blankey for A Future Sox Fan

Red Sox Blanket
I made this blanket in the summer 2010 for the first baby of a couple who are avid Boston Red Sox fans. It is done in the the tunisian crochet knit stitch and the logo is done as colorwork (not added after). The border is done with regular single crochet.
It is made from Caron Simply Soft in Dark Country Blue, Red, and White that I got at a local craft store. The 7 mm tunisian hook I used was handed down to me from a friend of my mother, but you can find comparable things at craft store. I choose to use the Simply Soft because it is machine washable, affordable and came in the colors I needed.
This was inspired by the parents love of the Red Sox. I charted out the logo for myself. I picked the colors because they were the closest I could find to true Red Sox colors.
My only problem was having a hook that was a bit short for the 120 stitches I had per row. It took about of month to complete.
This was my first project done in the tunisian knit stitch and my first tunisian colorwork project. It was a great project to learn/practice these techniques. I find that knitting and crochet are great skills to have in order to make handmade gifts that are well received.
