Back to Work Baby

This is one of my first quilts that I have done. I made it for my daughter (2.5 years old) as my "going back to work" guilt present. I am heading back after my second maternity leave (my son) and thought she needed a new mini blanket as she has had her old one since birth and it is looking pretty rough. She calls her mini blankets her "baby" and refuses to let the old one go, so my new one is going to take some time to get used to. :)

Once I decided on what I was going to do, it only took me a couple of days on and off to complete. It is only 14 x 20" long. I found the retro pink fabric at the local store and the other fabrics are the softest I could find that matched. I just made the random pattern up and used basic blanket binding on the edges. I used my serger and sewing machine for all of it. I have an embroidery sewing machine as well, so I personalized it with her birthdate, initials and some angel teddy bears (from Designs by JuJu).

She loves to tell others that "Mommy made it" which makes the effort all worth it, despite the fact that she will always love her old one more.
