Baby's First Christmas Ornament - Felt Mitten

Christmas Mitten Ornament for Millie
This is a Christmas ornament I made for our new granddaughter, Millie. It was her first Christmas. I drew a template of a mitten and then used it to cut out two pieces of felt, one for the front and the other for the back. I embroidered Millie's name on one side and the year on the other side. I had some sparkly snowflake stickers to decorate the front. (They were especially sticky stickers - wouldn't work with just any sticker.) Then I put the back and front together (wrong sides together) and used a blanket stitch and pink embroidery thread to sew around the mitten. Leave an opening to stuff the mitten with some fiberfill to give it texture and then finish sewing the mitten shut. Then I created a cuff for the mitten with some white felt. First, I hand embroidered a few pretty flowers on the white felt before sewing it to the top of the mitten. I didn't use a pattern - just have fun with it. I added a gold ribbon to hang the ornament from the tree. Millie will probably have this on her Christmas tree for many years to come.
