Make Baby Hair Clips

...and tack them on a card as a cute gift!

baby hair clips

These baby hair clips are really easy to make, especially with our free baby hair clips PDF of a flower, birthday cake, balloon and a bird!

To make baby hair clips like these, you'll need felt, metal hair clips, scissors, needle and thread. You may also use a hot glue gun to piece together your clips, but sewing is generally more sturdy thus safer for children.

These make a great add on gift for a baby girl's first birthday. By her first birthday, her hair is just getting long enough to go in her eyes and these clips will come in handy! Attach a couple to some cardstock and you have an instant birthday card or a cute tag for a gift.

Step One

Cut out all of your pieces in felt. Be sure to cut two large circles for the flower, these will be sandwhiched together to hold the clip. Cut a tiny hole in your base circle and insert your metal clip. You can put a little stich to attach the clip.

Step Two

Assemble the layers of your flower as shown. Stitch around the center circle, all the way through the layers and through the base circle. Finally, sew the two base circles together, with the larger part of the metal clip on the inside.

Step Three

Punch holes in your cardstock (you can pre-print "happy birthday" or whatever message you like) and put the backs of the clips through. Enjoy!
