Baby Bunting Wrap
by Alice Simmons
Paddington Bear wrapped and cozy
Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.
It is done in cotton for ease of care. Designed as somewhat of a bunting as a relative wanted a bunting for her new little one. It has a knit in hood and foot pocket with side wings to wrap the baby.
What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
1) Red Heart Ltd. Crème de la Crème (both solid 2 skeins & variagated 3 skeins).
2) Knitpicks options interchangeable nickle - size 6.
The yarn was on hand. I didn't want to buy yarn since I was creating the pattern as I went. To make this again, would get a softer yarn as in knitpicks comfy, shine, or crayon.
Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?
I had the yarn on hand and it fit with relatives having a little girl yet would be ok for a boy if the ultrasound was wrong. The inspiration was to create a bunting similar to a sewn design they wanted. It is also such that if as the baby grows they want it to become their blankie, then it's not too large and unweilding. I had previously made a star baby blanket so figured I could do this.
Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?
I don't remember any problems other than trying to guess at the measurements and when to switch to making the wings.
It was a 2 week project.
Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?
The only pictures are of it before I wove the ends in.
This was a fun creation to generate. Challenged myself to create something after a fabric object.
