Afternoon in the Woods

This blanket was crocheted for our local crisis pregnancy center. I just knew that a baby in need would love to be cuddled in this soft round blanket.

I used Lion Brand Homespun for this round blanket and a favorite crochet hook given to me by my daughter. I chose Homespun because of its softness and because I had just been given several skeins and partial skeins that all went together quite well.

This design was from a pattern called Zen Spiral Afghan from Lion brand patterns. I changed the pattern of the spikes mainly because I used a bulky yarn instead of the recommended worsted.

The colors were chosen because they lend themselves to an earthy feel. Not all parents want their babies in pastels. I loved how the browns went so well with the blue.

I didn't run into any problems with this fast, easy blanket. It took less than a month to finish.

I love knitting and crocheting for babies!
