a room that inspires stories

This is my oldest daughter's playroom (our other daughter is only 2 months old, not quite ready to play yet.). It is the most important room in our house. This is where inspiration and creativity are at their best.
All the items you see are from natural sources. A lot of them are handmade by myself or others.
A lot of thought, and time went into the creation or purchase of everything in here. We want to teach our kids to not just buy things but to truly think about why you want that item, is it well made, safe, natural? Is it heirloom quality to pass on down to the next generation and not add waste to the land fills?
We believe in children's play and the waldorf philosphy so everything is open ended. The simplest toys, such as the hand knit wool pumpkin, are the toys my daughter is most drawn to. She loves to play under her simple canopy as well. You can not see in the picture but it is hand dyed to look like the sky with clouds. We love to lay under her canopy and look up at her clouds telling stories about each one.
