A Huge Granny Square for a First Timer Crocheter ann2mauibeach
by Ann Porter
Please describe and tell us about your baby blanket.
I am a new crocheter and wanted to try something other than another scarf! I collected my Vanna's Choice Baby yarn in pink, green and white. I only got one ball of each color thinking I might not be able to sew a granny square!
What yarn and needles did you use and where did you get them? Why did you pick this yarn?
I used I/9 crochet hook that was passed on to me by my Mommom Moore.
I work in maternity so the baby colors inspired me!
Tell us more about your design. Was it inspired by another pattern? Why did you pick those colors?
The pattern was supposed to be many small granny squares sewn together. I just kept sewing around the first granny square since I am not perfect at changing colors. I figured I would have less trouble if I just kept "going around and around!"
Did you run into any problems when knitting your baby blanket? How long did it take you to knit?
This took me about a week to finish. It was not something you had to pay too much attention to but not too boring either.
Anything else you'd like to share about your baby blanket or knitting in general?
If anyone is thinking about a pattern but afraid to try, I say go for it! Try that project that looks too hard. If it is something you really want to make, you will get it! Have fun!
